“Twenty-Six” performed by Marin School of the Arts, a Success!

A big THANK YOU to all my dancers who performed in “Twenty-Six” this past weekend at Marin School of the Arts! Your commitment to exploring creative movement, challenging your freedom of expression, and daring your choreographic genius was SO inspiring.  I hope to work with you all again soon! Congratulations on a job well done.

Why was this piece entitled “Twenty-Six”?

Gematria is a system of assigning a numerical value to a letter or phrase.  The Hebrew word for God, Yahweh, has the gematric number of 26.  In other words, when you add up the numerical value of each Hebrew letter in the word Yahweh, it has a total value of 26.  This dance is a look at how the part relates to the whole, or how the individual relates to the collective, and poses the question: are they ultimately one in the same?  When all the numbers add up, is nature composed of many things?  Or is it all one?
